September 16, 2017 Corcubion, Spain. Post number 2 today.
I woke up this morning in my wonderful bed at Casa Bernarda to the sounds of my breakfast being prepared. Bernarda and I had decided that 8:30am for breakfast was a good hour of the day.
After that I got ready for my walk into Cee (actually pronounced “they”). It’s not very far away and there’s a walk way along the water with lots of benches. I needed it since my foot hurt every time I used it (though less than before) and my right knee wasn’t happy about things.
Cee in the distance.
Someone was fishing and I thought that I could see the fish.
Almost there.
I stopped at a lookout point and saw a man with his dog. He told me that he carried the dog in this manner since his paws were hurting.
From there I wandered around the central part of town.
15th Century Nuestra Señora da Xunqueira church
Then I found the pastelería, actually 2 of them.
Wandered around some more and found the market.
Then I decided that it was time to eat! I had a churrasco (ribs), the flavor was good, but they were really tough. I did get some good exercise for my arm.
Next I wanted to check out the bus station to see what the schedule is for Monday when I start traveling again.
Well it was time to head back.
I kept on hearing a lot of noise in Corcubion; what was it? Then I remembered that Bernarda had told me that there was going to be a race. It was the Carreira pola Costa da Morte.
Then the power ran out on my phone.
I stayed and watched the race for awhile. It was very interesting, especially after seeing my sister race in Penticton, Canada.
They started out with little kids and some ran with their parents. Then bigger kids, then bigger ones. At this point there was a lot of confusion about the course. Then they had all the adults run. It was pretty interesting and I think that there was one more race, but I was ready to go at that point.
I remembered that Bernarda had said that there would be someone else staying tonight. It ended up being the couple from Houston who I had met briefly on the Camino Ingles. Very nice couple. We talked Camino for awhile. They’ve done a lot of great traveling in Spain!
Tomorrow I’ll do a bit of wash. I did some this morning with some great help from Bernarda. Then I’ll start walking in the direction of Fisterra.
Oh yeah, 4.5 miles this time. I’m getting there!
